Camille, a foster caregiver from Raleigh, North Carolina, shared the touching video of Luna.
The clip captures Luna guiding Camille to her former home during their first walk around the neighborhood after her rescue. Luna sat on the doorstep, listening intently for any signs of her family, but the house was empty.
Despite this, Luna lingered outside with a sorrowful expression. The video caption noted, “She didn’t want to leave the place she shared with the four kids who loved her since she was a puppy.”
Camille also mentioned that Luna refused to leave the house for six weeks. When she finally ventured out, the house was “still the first place on her mind.”
According to the Instagram post, Luna was left behind when her family was evicted nearly six weeks ago. She stayed alone in the house for a few days until the landlord found her and contacted Animal Control.
Camille shared that they managed to reach her family. “Desperate to keep Luna out of the shelter but having no other options, they left her behind and brought food when they could,” she explained.
Camille took Luna in temporarily, hoping for a reunion with her family. However, the future remains uncertain, and Camille fears she “won’t hear from the family again.”
Many people expressed their sorrow in the comments on the Instagram reel, with some asking if there’s a way for the community to help. As it stands, there is still hope for a happy ending.
