Just recently, Melissa Gilbert shared a video of her rescue dog, Chicago, that quickly gained widespread attention. The actress posted an Instagram clip showing Chicago firmly planted on the sofa despite several requests from Gilbert’s husband, Tim Busfield, to vacate the spot.

The Labrador mix stubbornly stayed put, giving Busfield a series of side-eyes. After a while, she reluctantly got down, leaving the couple and their online followers in fits of laughter.

Dog’s reaction to being asked to leave the sofa goes viral

In the video, Gilbert captured Chicago’s deep affection for the sofa. She humorously captioned the post, “She’s not a dog.

She’s a person and she loves the sofa.” Throughout the clip, Busfield can be seen repeatedly asking Chicago to move from his spot on the couch.

However, the determined canine refused to budge, maintaining her position on the furniture.

Busfield emphasized that it was his designated spot on the couch, but Chicago remained unfazed, continuing to side-eye him. Amidst Gilbert’s laughter, Busfield kept politely requesting the rescue dog to relinquish his seat.

Eventually, the Labrador mix decided to prioritize her affection for him over her love for the couch. Although hesitant at first, she slowly got down, and Busfield thanked her warmly before showering her with affection.

Fans flocked to the comments section to share their amusement at Chicago’s behavior. Many users found her side-eye hilarious, while others chuckled at her reluctance to leave the sofa.

Some commenters even praised Chicago’s adorable actions and her impressive acting skills.

Gilbert and Busfield adopted Chicago from The Anti-Cruelty Society in March 2022. Reflecting on the adoption, Gilbert recalled seeing a volunteer holding the dog as they passed by the center.

The couple had lost a French Bulldog a year earlier, but they instantly felt a deep connection with Chicago when they met her.

They soon brought the pup to New York to join their family.

In an interview with the organization for their Fall Magazine that year, Gilbert shared, “Everything she does is precious, and she is so smart.

She was even completely housebroken in a few days!” The actress also revealed that her favorite part of the day was snuggling with Chicago.
