A touching video captures the transformation of Naya, a puppy once found hairless and infested with mites at a homeless encampment in California, now comfortably resting in a foster home.
Naya’s journey to recovery began thanks to Hungry Tailz, an animal rescue organization committed to helping pets in need.

@hungry.tailz We have an update about our new rescue pup, Naya 🩷🐾 Just yesterday, while we were out feeding the pets at the homeless encampment, a lady approached us asking for help for a puppy in really bad condition. She described the puppy as hairless with words written all over her. When she brought Naya out, it was no exaggeration. We immediately took her to a vet to start treatment for her skin and they gave her a medicated bath to wash away the ink. Thankfully, we found an amazing family to foster Naya long-term until she heals. She is very sweet and affectionate. It's heartbreaking to think about why people do such things to innocent animals. We are incredibly grateful to the ladies who sheltered Naya while they could barely provide for themselves, and to the foster family who stepped up to take in this sweet girl. Fostering truly saves lives, just like Naya's. #rescue #fosteringsaveslives #adoptdontshop #makingadifferenceeveryday #savinglives #makingapawsitivechange #homelessdogs #dogs #HungryTailzRescue #makingadifference #homelesspets #dogs #RescueDogs #HappyTails #stray #ForeverHome #sad #trending #tren #trend #trendingvideo #trends #trendy #trendingsound #trendingnow #viralvideo #viraltiktok ♬ Not About Angels – Birdy
Naya’s ordeal started when a homeless woman approached Hungry Tailz for assistance with the puppy, who was suffering from a severe infestation of Demodex mites.
These mites, which thrive in animals with weakened immune systems, had caused Naya significant skin irritation and hair loss.
The dedicated team from Hungry Tailz, who frequently visit encampments in Stockton, California, to provide food, medical supplies, and support, sprang into action.
They began treating Naya with Credelio, a medication designed to eliminate mites, giving her a chance at a healthier life. Despite her critical condition, the caregivers are committed to fully restoring her health.
While Naya was lucky to find a safe place, many other puppies in similar situations do not survive due to diseases and harsh living conditions.
Reports indicate that a significant number of homeless individuals in the United States have pets, often in environments that are not ideal for their well-being.
Hungry Tailz stresses the importance of affordable spaying and neutering services to break the cycle of reproduction and suffering in these settings.
Naya’s future is now looking hopeful. Once she has fully recovered, she will be ready for adoption.
Hungry Tailz is optimistic that Naya will soon find a loving family, as she has already shown herself to be a friendly companion who gets along well with other pets and people.
