Exhausted Mama Dog Goes to Hilarious Lengths to Get a Break

Being a mother is tough work, and that’s just as true for dogs as it is for humans. One exhausted mama pup recently proved just how much she needed a breather in a hilarious viral video, showing off her creative way of escaping from her energetic litter.

Misty, a stray dog who had just given birth to six puppies, was rescued from a remote fly-in community in Canada.

These isolated areas, only reachable by helicopter or floatplane, come with their own set of struggles, including limited resources and steep prices for basic needs like pet food.

Northern Reach Network, a volunteer-run group in Ontario, stepped in to help. Their mission is to relocate stray animals to foster homes or permanent families, giving them a chance at a better life.

When Misty arrived at the home of Amie, the organization’s president, she was severely underweight and in dire need of food and rest.

Despite everything she had been through, Misty’s situation took a turn for the better. A video posted to Northern Reach’s TikTok page captured her hilarious attempt at a little alone time.

As her six lively puppies eagerly bounced around in their pen, the camera panned over to reveal Misty perched inside a tall cardboard box across the room.

From there, she kept a close watch on her little ones while also enjoying a well-earned moment of peace. The caption read, “When mom is done with her babies!!! lmao.”

TikTok users couldn’t get enough of the scene. One commenter joked, “My cat threw her kittens in the garbage, so yours is more maternal than mine at least lol.” Another chimed in, suggesting that Misty was simply practicing self-care.

Many shared similar stories about their own dogs sneaking away for some quiet time when their puppies became too much to handle.

Amie explained that Misty now has a setup that allows her to take breaks while still caring for her puppies when needed.

She described Misty as incredibly attentive, but also grateful for little comforts like soaking up the sun and enjoying a good brushing session. “After everything she has been through, Misty is an amazing, resilient girl,” Amie told Newsweek.
