When a distressing message about a tiny dog named Alba arrived, it sparked an urgent rescue mission.

With time running out, Niall Harbison, a dedicated rescuer, knew he had to act swiftly to save this “gentle and fragile soul.”

An emotional Instagram video documents Alba’s incredible journey, highlighting the transformative power of compassion.

Alba’s early days were filled with neglect and suffering. When she was discovered, her frail body was chained up, and she was so underweight that she felt “as light as a feather.”

Harbison described her condition as heartbreaking, with severe weight loss made worse by heartworms, anemia, blood parasites, and weakened organs. It was astonishing that Alba could even bark, let alone survive.

Recognizing Alba’s vulnerability, Harbison knew she couldn’t stay in a typical shelter.

She needed constant, round-the-clock care, which was provided by a dedicated team and a caring nurse dog named Hank, who stayed by her side.

Alba’s condition was precarious, and a happy ending was far from certain, but she displayed a resilience that belied her fragile state.

After two and a half days of intensive care, Alba began to show signs of improvement. This small progress offered a glimmer of hope to her rescuers.

Alba, whose name means dawn in Spanish and sunrise in Italian, seemed to embody her name as she fought her way back to health. Her wagging tail became a symbol of her gratitude and determination to survive.

The Instagram community has rallied around Alba, filling the comments section of her video with messages of hope and admiration for her transformation.

One user wrote, “I hope her body is responding to the meds the same way her tail is responding to the delicious poached chicken.”

Another commenter added, “I don’t understand how people could harm/neglect dogs. Literally the most precious souls on the planet.”
