Jennifer Garner is heartbroken after her dog, Birdie, recently passed away. The actress shared an emotional farewell note, expressing her grief over the loss of her cherished pet.

Garner’s furry friends often appear on her social media, bringing joy to her fans.

Birdie had been part of Garner’s life for almost a decade, joining her family in 2015. Now, the actress is coming to terms with the loss of her dear companion.

In a touching Instagram post, Jennifer Garner wrote a tribute to Birdie. She began, “It’s hard to find the right words— it might seem odd to mourn a pet given everything happening in the world, but since we’ve shared Birdie with all of you, it feels right to let you know she has passed away.”

Garner explained that Birdie began showing signs of illness on Thursday. She mentioned, “Birdie let us know on Thursday that she wasn’t feeling herself (she never missed a meal, being a true foodie).”

Garner went on to say they were “shocked” to discover Birdie was “very ill” and nearing the “end of her life.”

The vet informed the family that dogs often wait for their loved ones to come home before letting go. Garner shared, “We believe Birdie did just that, so we could stroke her soft ears together and thank her for being the best dog ever.”

Jennifer Garner continued to reflect on the special moments she had with Birdie. She mentioned that Birdie loved being read to and often made appearances in her Pretend Cooking Show.

Garner added that Birdie “had a knack for giving people exactly what they needed.” She highlighted Birdie’s work as a therapy dog, saying, “She brought joy to many as part of a therapy dog team with Mo.”

Garner also shared that Birdie lived a “joyful dog life” and has now taken on her new role as an “angel girl.” She concluded, “It’s a true gift to love and be loved by a creature like Birdie the Doggie.”
