Great news for dog lovers—Scrim, an almost 2-year-old rescue pup, has finally been found! After spending months on the run, he was safely captured on February 12 in the most unexpected way—inside a cat trap.

Zeus’ Rescues, the organization that had been searching for him, confirmed that Scrim was safe and healthy, much to the relief of his many well-wishers.

They shared the heartwarming update on Instagram, bringing joy to those who had followed his journey.

Rescuer confirms New Orleans dog Scrim is in good health

Zeus’ Rescues, a New Orleans-based non-profit dedicated to saving animals, first introduced Scrim to the world on April 21, 2024.

At the time, they described him as a timid 1.5-year-old pup in need of a loving home. His introduction post painted a picture of a dog who had been through a lot, stating that he was found “completely shut down and matted to the flesh everywhere.”

Fortunately, with time and care, Scrim started to come out of his shell, revealing a sweet and gentle personality.

Though he remained quiet, he had a quirky habit that won over hearts—stealing socks for comfort if he took a liking to someone.

However, just as things were looking up, Scrim disappeared during a home visit on May 1. Zeus’ Rescues quickly took to social media, urging people to report sightings rather than trying to catch him, as his fearful nature made him prone to running.

Over the next nine months, the rescue team kept followers updated with any glimpses of Scrim, but catching him proved to be a real challenge.

His shy and cautious nature made it difficult to lure him into traps. Each sighting brought renewed hope, but Scrim remained elusive.

Then, in a surprising twist, a cat rescue organization called “Trap Dat Cat” managed to catch him by accident. They promptly contacted Michelle from Zeus’ Rescues, who wasted no time rushing to the scene.

After months of searching and countless close calls, Scrim was finally back in safe hands. The rescuer recalled that it had been a long and exhausting ordeal, but as soon as she saw Scrim’s “big eyes and floppy ears,” she knew it was him.

A vet check confirmed that, aside from worms and intestinal parasites—likely from drinking dirty water—Scrim was in good health.

His followers, who had anxiously awaited updates, flooded the comments with joy and relief upon hearing the news.

Scrim’s remarkable journey is a testament to the dedication of rescuers and animal lovers.

After months of uncertainty, this resilient pup is now getting the care he deserves, and hopefully, a forever home that’s just as patient and loving as he is.
