They say opposites attract, and that seems to be true even when it comes to dogs. It’s not every day you witness a giant, horse-sized pup hanging out with one that could comfortably ride in a purse.
But that’s exactly what happened when the tallest and tiniest dogs on Earth met up for an adorable playdate that’s taken the internet by storm.
A Giant and a Tiny Pup Steal Hearts in Viral Dog Playdate
In a meet-up arranged by Guinness World Records, Reginald—a 7-year-old Great Dane from Idaho—and Pearl—a 4-year-old Chihuahua from Florida—met face-to-face for the first time.
With nearly three feet separating them in height, their interaction was as heartwarming as it was surprising.
Captured in a short video on Instagram, the two can be seen sniffing around, wagging their tails, and curiously checking each other out like any other dogs at the park.
Reginald towers at 3 feet 3 inches, while little Pearl measures just 3.59 inches tall.
Pearl isn’t new to the spotlight. Her dainty size runs in the family—she took over the title from her late aunt Millie, who previously held the record for smallest dog.
Her owner, Vanesa Semler, says Pearl has a big personality wrapped in a tiny frame. “She picks her own clothes and loves all the attention,” Semler shared.
Although Pearl enjoys being the center of the show, Semler was a bit anxious about how she’d react to such a towering playmate.
That concern disappeared quickly once Reginald showed just how gentle he could be.
Reginald’s owner, Sam Johnson Reiss, said the massive Dane was more curious about the camera crew at first, but once he noticed Pearl, he shifted gears. “He was very careful, like he didn’t step on her or anything,” Reiss told ABC News, clearly proud of his dog’s calm demeanor.
The two dogs spent two days together on Reggie’s spacious farm in Idaho, and by the end of it, they’d become quite the pair.
There were some funny moments over shared toys and bed space, but nothing serious. “I think she found a good friend,” Semler said with a smile.
As for who the bigger diva is, that might still be undecided. Pearl might win the style award with her wardrobe choices, but Reginald is catching up fast—with his own growing Instagram following.
