Working from home might sound like a dream, but if you’ve got a puppy in the mix, things can get pretty chaotic fast.

Trying to balance video calls, emails, and deadlines while your dog zooms around the house is no easy task. But one clever dog mom has figured out how to keep her high-energy pup happy without losing her mind—or her job.

She recently shared her go-to tricks in a helpful Instagram video for other pet parents trying to make it work.

Dog owner shares smart tricks for getting things done at home with a pup

The woman behind the popular @indytheminidoxie account on Instagram gave followers a peek into how she manages her daily routine with her Mini Longhaired Dachshund, Indy.

Right off the bat, she admits that working from home with a young, hyper dog isn’t exactly simple. “As the owner of a very energetic dachshund,” she says, “I’ve tried everything to keep her entertained while I work.”

Her first suggestion is a toy called the Snoop Dog. It’s an interactive treat dispenser that lets you change the size of the opening, which makes it easier or harder for your dog to get the treat out.

One of her favorite hacks?

Filling it with frozen carrots. It gives Indy a bit of a challenge and keeps her busy for close to an hour.

Next up on her list are Indy’s all-time favorite bully sticks. These chewy snacks are her go-to during meetings when she needs Indy to stay quiet and calm. “She’ll sit there and chew on this until I take it away from her,” she explains.

To make sure it’s safe, she uses a special holder that keeps the stick in place and helps avoid choking.

She also swears by teething toys—even though Indy’s not teething anymore. They still satisfy her urge to chew and keep her focused on something that isn’t a shoe or a piece of furniture.

In the caption, the dog mom adds one more helpful hint: “pair these with a long walk for best results.” Because let’s be real, a tired puppy is way easier to work with!
