Samoyeds already look like walking clouds with their fluffy coats and happy grins, so it’s no surprise they’re adorable even in their sleep.

But one Samoyed in particular has melted hearts all over the internet for her dreamy nighttime paddling.

This Samoyed Swims While Snoozing—and People Can’t Get Enough

A reel posted on the Instagram page @nubethesamoyed shows Nube, a snow-white Samoyed, dozing off peacefully. But even though her eyes are closed, her front legs start to move like she’s gliding through water.

She’s stretched out on her side, gently paddling her paws while her back legs give a few soft kicks too—like she’s swimming her way through some dreamland lake.

At one point, she even sticks her tongue out in a little “mlem,” making the moment even sweeter.

The video didn’t take long to blow up, pulling in thousands of views and reactions. “Working out in her sleep,” one person joked in the comments. Another said, “I love this — she has the cutest personality.”

One fan added, “Having so much fun in her dreams.” Plenty of pet parents chimed in with stories of their own dogs acting out dream adventures—some running in place, others wagging their tails or giving sleepy little barks.

So what causes this kind of dream movement in dogs? Experts say pups go through sleep stages just like we do, including REM sleep, which is when dreams are most vivid.

It’s during this phase that dogs may replay parts of their day—like chasing squirrels, running around the house, or, if you’re Nube, maybe splashing through a pool.

Twitching paws and little kicks are just signs that your dog is deep in a dream and totally relaxed.

While we’ll never know exactly what Nube was imagining, it’s pretty safe to say it involved water, playtime, and probably a tennis ball or two floating by.
