A cheerful video featuring a Golden Retriever named Hudson has become a crowd favorite online, showing his one-of-a-kind walking routine in the cutest way possible.
On April 22, Hudson’s owner posted the lighthearted clip on the pup’s Instagram page, @hudsonbegood.
The footage shows Hudson enjoying his stroll—until he suddenly decides it’s break time and flops onto the ground.
Golden Retriever’s Walk Captured in 6 Relatable Stages
In a viral Instagram video, Hudson’s human breaks down the dog’s walk into six hilarious phases, and people can’t get enough of it.
Along with the video, the owner joked in the caption that Hudson “can’t make it through a walk without it happening at least 10 separate times,” referring to the now-iconic six stages.
The video kicks off with Hudson sitting sweetly on the grass, giving the camera a heart-melting look. Text on the screen reads, “The six stages of walking a Golden Retriever.”
What follows is a series of moments every dog parent might recognize. Stage one kicks things off with Hudson joyfully trotting beside his owner. “Stage 1: Happy Struts – A good start!” the video announces.
Next comes “Stage 2: The Pause and Side Eye,” where Hudson takes a break and gazes off into the distance, seated peacefully in the grass.
That’s followed by “Stage 3: The Plop,” in which Hudson dramatically drops to the ground mid-walk, clearly deciding he’s had enough—for now.
Stage four is where things get even funnier: “Selective Hearing + Total Ignorance.” Hudson completely tunes out any encouragement to keep moving.
Then we arrive at Stage 5: the dramatic roll.
The text reads, “Stage 5: Make a scene and continue to not listen,” as Hudson flops onto his back and rolls around on the lawn, soaking up attention.
Finally, we reach the last part of the journey: Stage 6. Hudson gets up like nothing ever happened and walks forward, seemingly ready to start the cycle all over again.
In the comments, viewers couldn’t stop laughing. One person wrote, “The little hooman should learned this.” Another chimed in with, “That golden sway!”
And someone else simply put, “Absolutely swishy strut,” clearly a fan of Hudson’s signature moves.
