Posted by Instagram users @maui_thegoldenpup and @ruby_thecorgi, the clip features two pups from the same family — a Golden Retriever named Maui and a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Ruby — and their very different approaches to socializing.
Maui is clearly in his element, tail wagging, bounding around with the other dogs, and soaking up the attention like a true party animal. Ruby?
Not so much. She’s parked at a distance, barking out what feels like a strong “please leave me alone” message. Her vibe screams “introvert on alert.”
The real kicker is the perfectly timed audio taken from the 2023 comedy Strays.
As Maui happily bounces around, you hear Reggie, one of the movie’s canine characters, exclaiming, “Today is gonna be the best day ever… I love sunshine, I love butterflies. But more than anything, I love Doug.”
Then it cuts to Ruby, just as another voice yells, “Hey! Shut the f**k up! F***ing piece of sh*t!” The way the sound matches their energy is comedy gold.
Since it was uploaded, the video has racked up over 3.5 million views and 228,000 likes. And the comments? Pure internet magic. One viewer wrote, “Awwwww they complete each other,” calling them the perfect doggy duo.
Another joked, “Ruby is the fun-police. I think that’s not uncommon with the corgis.” But the most spot-on reaction might’ve been the person who said, “The audio is so perfect for Ruby and Maui omg.”
