A heartwarming story emerged from a Virginia animal shelter, where a dog named RoRo found her forever home after spending 472 days in their care.

On Wednesday, November 27, Angels of Assisi shared the joyous news on Facebook: “Finally, during our Pet Expo Adopt-A-Thon last Saturday, RoRo met her human.”

RoRo’s journey to the shelter began when her family faced a difficult loss, forcing them to move and surrender her. Life at the shelter was challenging for RoRo, especially as she battled several health issues.

“RoRo needed surgery to remove a cancerous mass and has severe allergies, which led to some hearing loss and requires daily management,” the shelter explained.

Despite these hardships, RoRo remained a cheerful, playful, and loving dog. The kennel staff often spent their breaks with her, providing extra attention and care.

Although RoRo didn’t attract many potential adopters, she had an “Angel Ambassador” who took her on weekly outings, helping to keep her spirits high and showing her extra love.

On Saturday, November 23, RoRo’s luck changed when she met Kathy, who instantly fell in love with her. “Kathy fell in love immediately and we know RoRo’s feelings were mutual,” the shelter shared.

RoRo quickly adapted to her new home and enjoyed exploring Kathy’s large yard. The shelter expressed excitement for this new chapter in RoRo’s life, sharing Kathy’s sentiment: “Kathy says RoRo is in fact the one who rescued her, and she’s looking forward to growing together in the years to come.”

“Animals like RoRo are why we do what we do,” Angels of Assisi wrote.

To celebrate the holiday season, Angels of Assisi is offering special discounts on adoption fees from November 30 to December 29, every Saturday and Sunday. Adoption fees are set at $25 for adult cats and dogs, $75 for kittens, and $200 for puppies.

If you’re considering adopting a pet, now is the perfect time to provide a loving home to a shelter animal.
