The video shows Fresh gradually warming up to her foster dad, and the caption makes it clear that this didn’t happen overnight. At first, she was far too scared to even go near him.
It took a couple of days before she felt safe enough to let him get close. During that time, she observed the other dogs in the home receiving affection from him. That seemed to spark her curiosity, and eventually, she allowed him to pet her. From there, everything changed, and she started giving affection right back.
At the beginning of the clip, Fresh looks tense, her eyes alert and unsure. Her foster dad does exactly what he should, he keeps his distance and lowers himself to her level.
He speaks gently, giving her space while still letting her get used to his presence. As she stretches, he softly says, “Big stretch!” and asks, “How are you?” without putting any pressure on her.
