When I come across rescue stories, I’m always reminded of both the hardships animals endure and the strength they show through it all.
Many stray dogs spend months, sometimes even years, trying to survive on their own before they finally get another shot at life. When those journeys end with a loving home, they tend to stay with me.
I recently watched one of those stories unfold, and it followed a once-lost dog who finally found where he belongs.
Video Shares Rescue Dog’s Journey for Finding Forever Home After Being Lost
Happy Doggo, a rescue group based in Thailand and known on Instagram as @wearehappydoggo, recently posted the story of a dog named Twix.
The organization was founded by animal rescuer Niall Harbison, and they spend their time helping stray dogs in need. Twix’s story stood out to me because of how emotional and unexpected his journey turned out to be.
From what the video shows, the team had been searching for Twix for months after he went missing as a young puppy. In the early clips, I saw Harbison spending time with him, feeding him and playing with him during those first meetings.
Then, without warning, the puppy disappeared. The team had no idea what had happened or where he had gone.
Later in the video, everything changes when they finally find him again. By then, Twix had grown and was clearly living on the streets. Even after all that time apart, he quickly reconnects with the rescuers.
It was clear that bond had never really gone away, and they decided to take him back into their care right away.
From there, the story shifts toward giving Twix a new beginning.
The team gets him ready for adoption, placing him in a crate and bringing him to what would soon become his forever home. For me, this part felt like a major turning point in his life.
In the following clips, I watched Twix adjust to his new surroundings. He explores his space, plays with toys, and even spends time by the beach near his home. His behavior looks completely different, calm, happy, and at ease, which is a big change from how he seemed while surviving on the streets.
People on Instagram had a strong reaction to the video. Many shared how happy they felt seeing Twix finally safe and cared for. One person mentioned their “heart bursts with joy” knowing he now has a home.
Others talked about how special it is to see rescue dogs start over, calling it the kind of life they truly deserve.
