Dogs have this funny way of being both naughty and lovable at the same time, which often helps them get away with almost anything.
I recently came across a video that proves exactly that. It features a sweet Golden Retriever named Charlie, who somehow manages to pull off a bold little “heist” in broad daylight and walk away like it is no big deal.
His owner shared the clip on Instagram through the account @laurencodyandcharlie, and it did not take long for people to notice. The video has already picked up more than 5K likes and plenty of amused reactions.
Golden Retriever Steals a Hat from Someone During a Walk
In the video posted by @laurencodyandcharlie, I watched Charlie, an adorable Golden Retriever, casually take a man’s hat during a walk. What makes it even funnier is that the man actually lets him do it.
The whole moment feels so lighthearted that it is hard not to laugh. In the caption, Charlie’s owner added, “Yes I bought the nice man a new one.”
The clip starts with a close-up of Charlie enjoying his walk with his owner. At the same time, a text overlay reads, “POV: Your Golden Retriever commits theft in broad daylight… and gets away with.” That line alone sets the tone perfectly.
As the video continues, it becomes clear what happened. Charlie had met a man along the way and decided to take his hat. Instead of stopping him, the man allowed it, which made the moment even more amusing.
Charlie proudly carried the hat in his mouth, looking completely pleased with himself, as if he had just accomplished something great.
His owner did try to get him to return it, but by then, the hat was already too dirty. So, she chose to do the right thing and bought the man a new one instead.
It is no surprise that the video has left viewers smiling. The comment section is full of playful reactions. One person joked, “Finders keepers, really (emoji) if no one chases you for it then it’s yours.”
Another fan defended Charlie by saying, “Charlie commits no such things.” Someone else added a clever take, “Well in order to retrieve, a retriever has to take it first no..? Retriever logic. Adorable fluff.”
