Scrolling through Instagram, I came across a video that instantly tugged at my heartstrings. It showed Mochi, a one-year-old pit bull living at the Humane Society of Broward County, quietly waiting for someone to notice her.
At the time the video went live, this sweet girl had been holding on to hope for eighty long days.
Sitting patiently in her kennel, she watched visitor after visitor walk right past. The shelter decided to share her story in a deeply touching video that has since melted hearts all over the world.

The video paints a beautiful picture of Mochi stepping outside the only life she’s known in months. She leaves her kennel behind for a day in the sun, and the look on her face says it all.
While many shelter animals share similar stories, seeing Mochi experience even a single day of freedom brought her story to life in a way words sometimes can’t.
The video shared that Mochi had spent almost three months behind bars, patiently watching the world move on without her.
She was surrendered because she reportedly “chased animals,” but the staff shared a very different perspective. According to those who know her best, Mochi is pure joy on four legs, simply waiting for someone to give her a real chance.
They described her as “friendly, affectionate, and full of energy.” And despite the claims made by her previous owner, the shelter staff said they hadn’t seen any sign of her chasing behavior.
Instead, they painted a picture of a playful companion who loved chasing tennis balls, showing off tricks for treats, and walking politely by their side.
One special day, a volunteer decided to treat Mochi to a day outside the shelter. Dressed up in a cute skirt and shirt, and sporting pink, heart-shaped sunglasses, Mochi absolutely beamed.
