A heartwarming Instagram video that’s gone viral shows one owner sharing his first day with his rescue pup. Though the little dog started off “timid,” he has now blossomed into his dad’s “most loyal companion.”

Mike Brown recently shared on Instagram a sweet video showing his first day with his rescue dog, Cactus.
The pup’s name fits perfectly since he was saved from the deserts of California. Now, Cactus enjoys life in Miami with his dad, having found his forever home with Brown.
In the video’s caption, Brown recalled that Cactus came to him “skinny, scared, and unsure of everything around him.”
On arrival, the dog stayed “curled up in the corner,” so timid that Brown began to worry whether Cactus would ever feel safe with him.
But the little dog proved his dad’s worries were unnecessary, eventually becoming Brown’s “happiest, most loyal companion.”
The video kicks off with present-day cuddles between the rescue dog and his dad. Then, it flashes back to earlier moments, showing Cactus excitedly interacting with Brown when they first met, followed by Brown picking him up to bring him home.
During the car ride, Cactus sat quietly beside his new dad, but once they arrived, he darted under the bed, too nervous to explore.
Before long, though, the shy pup warmed up. Later clips show Cactus playing joyfully with his dad and snuggling up in bed, with Brown planting a kiss on his nose as he drifts off to sleep.
After Brown posted the Instagram video, it quickly went viral, racking up over 1.2 million views and 95.6k likes.
